ATMs are such a big part of our financial lives now days. That is why you need to know how to use one efficiently and effectively. Get to know all the aspects of your ATM because you will see the opportunities it presents. But did you know that a lot of people do not even use their ATM to make deposits. It may be because they are not very comfortable. Here are some tips that hopefully make you more comfortable.
Deposit Help
Now it is important to know that not every ATM accepts deposits. In order to deposit it will need to be an ATM that is specifically affiliated with a bank. Other ATMs are only good to make withdrawals from. You also may have to pay a fee, so know this going in. Although the fees will probably just come when you use an ATM that is not specific to your actual bank, but another bank instead.
When Will Funds Become Available
Know that your funds will be picked up from the bank within 24 hours. That is the rule. Most times, however, it will not take that long for the bank to come by. Local checks will take a shorter time to clear into your bank account than nonlocal checks will take.
There must be something at the ATM that states that funds deposited will not be available for immediate withdrawal. If you deposit your funds into a bank that is not yours, then your bank must not take more than 5 business days to clear the funds into your bank account.
This is important when noting your deposit in records. If the ATM is not on the premises of the bank then the deposit date that will be recognized will be the day that the funds are actually removed from the ATM. This aspect looms large when funds aren’t removed more than 2 or 3 times a week. If funds are not removed more than 2 or 3 times a week, the bank must clearly state that on the ATM, or at least state what days funds are actually removed.
Don’t Worry Any Longer!
ATMs are a great and safe place to make your deposits. It can save you plenty of time because you do not actually have to go into the bank. ATM deposits are quick and easy, and are very accurate. Do not worry about the bank losing your deposit. You get a receipt with every transaction, so you have record of it. So if you have never made a deposit before at an ATM, maybe now is the time to start.
