Saving money is something that everyone wants to do but many people have trouble with. This is especially true if you are in your twenties. Odds are that you are about to leave college soon or have just graduated. You probably do not have very much money so saving at any turn is something your need to embrace. Here are some of the things you can do to save money while you are in your twenties.
Become One With the Kitchen
It is fun to go out with your friends and have dinner, but this is not something you should do a lot. This can really add up over time. Cook your own meals. Who knows, you may find that you really enjoy it and might think about being a chef. But in the mean time, hang out in your kitchen. It will save you money, and it tends to be a bit healthier as well.
Where Do You Buy Clothes?
College is done and your job is on the horizon. Everyone wants to dress to impress right away. Well, impressive often means expensive. No one expects you to dress in the finest Italian suits fresh out of college. You need to shop for the bargains. You can find some really great bargains on clothes that still look professional. You can buy the finest clothes will you start making money, if you so choose. Until then, do not go overboard on the clothing. Bargains are good.
Watch Your Bills
Little aspects of bills will begin to add up if you do not begin to pay attention. Watch your cell phone bill. Do you need all the other aspects like internet, etc? Thos things will add up, when you may just need the phone part. You may think that “it is only 5 or 10 dollars.” $10 a month is $120 a year. How many of those “extra $10” payments are you making a year? Do not let them get out of control.
Extra Paycheck
Every now and then you will come upon a month where you will get an extra paycheck. This is because some months end up having another week in them. This does not happen a lot, but when it does you need to take great care. Do not just blow this paycheck on random things. Sure you can spend some of it, but you need to make sure you put some into savings. This is an extra paycheck and it would be smart to save some for later when you do not get that extra paycheck. Maybe you even try to hide this extra paycheck, and act like it never happened. This way you are less tempted to go out and spend, when you should save.
