The Due Date of Your Credit Card

You should look into the possibility of changing your due dates on your credit cards.

February 8th, 2008

The first of the month is generally the time of the month where you will get hit with all your large payments. So why should you pay your credit card off at that time as well. The less you have to pay at that moment the better. Have you thought about getting your credit card company to change the due date on your credit card? Well, how can you go about doing just that?

But I Have Different Cards?

Ah, yes. This is a good question to address right off of the bat. Do not assume that you need to go through the same process for each credit card. It will vary depending on which provider you have. One company may be really flexible while another might be just the opposite. You also need to see what fees you might come across while doing this. There may be no fees, but when dealing with payments and bills, you should always expect some sort of fee. But if you are allowed to push back the due date two weeks then you probably should take advantage of doing so.

How Do I Want to Move Bills Around?

Well you need to figure how when all your bills are due. See what time of the month you find you get hit the hardest by the bills. As stated earlier, this tends to come around the beginning of the month. The middle of the month may be when all the smaller bills are due. So look at that as the first option of where you want to move your credit card bill.

Even if you get this due date changed you are still going to want to pay attention. You will need to pay your bills during this period because it might take a few billing cycles to actually get the change official. At this point, if you lose focus you might find that you forget about a bill. This will become a very negative thing.

Change Your Bills in Your Favor

If moving your bill does not work out good for you then do not do it. You only want to go through this process if it has a positive outcome for you. If you have all your bills clumped together at the beginning of the month and that works for you, then you may not have to change it.

This is only done for a standpoint of making sure you have enough money to pay bills and to live your life. So do whatever is necessary, but make sure you do not forget about those bills! If you forget, more bills might be coming your way.
